Asparagus Bone Broth Soup

Let me just start with, it you’ve been reading my blog for quite some time you know, I don’t eat meat. I don’t eat meat broths, or bone broths or anything that remotely comes from animals. However, in an effort to follow my practitioner guidelines for gut healing, I’m trying it in a form with veggies and in a form of gummies. So if you aren’t a fan of meat, I get it. If you’re not trying to heal your gut, I get it. Then stay with your veggie broth.

That being said, bone broth does have healing properties, especially in the case of healing the gut lining and leaky gut. I know, I know. I didn’t want to hear it or believe it either, but I’ll just showcase some facts below.

Here’s an excerpt I found from a Functional Nutritionist, By Melissa Crispell, CNS, CNHP, CWC and I think you should give it a read, here if you want more info.

There are almost too many benefits of bone broth to list in just one article. Dozens of nutrients that aren’t easily found in commonly eaten foods makes bone broth a valuable tool in your healthy regimen toolbox. If you were to choose one, only one thing to add today to feel better and have more energy it should be this! Bone broth is also beneficial in:”

  • Treating leaky gut

  • Boosting the immune system

  • Reducing cellulite

  • Healing from food intolerances

To say the least, the blog is very insightful from a functional practitioner point of view and why not try it?

So here we are, adding it into my detox recipes for healing leaky gut, treating cold or flu, or just wanting a warm soup on a cold day. It’s simple, soothing, nutrient dense, and filling for when you just want that broth.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chicken bone broth (Organic)

  • 2 cups filtered water

  • 1/2 tsp of sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 2 tbsp grass fed butter, ghee or coconut oil

  • 2-3 cloves garlic chopped

Directions:

  1. If you want to use this in your Instant Pot, its a great place to do it. However, you are also able to do it just as effortlessly on your stovetop! Start by putting your “fat” or oil of choice. Add in your garlic and onion. Let simmer for about 5 minutes. If your using your Instant Pot just put on the “sauté” setting.

  2. Add in your bone broth, chopped vegetables, in this case asparagus, water, salt and pepper. Cover and let simmer approx 20 minutes or until the asparagus is tender.

  3. Take batch and transfer to your blender or Vitamix. Blend until smooth here. Top with your favorite fat if desired or sip as is!

I hope you enjoy and I hope if you’re using it for healing, or whatever the case may be, that it brings you healing and joy.

Thank you so much for following along!
