If you’re having a hard time getting in your veggies during the day, a smoothie is ALWAYS an easy way to get them in!

I love this combo and I’ve done variations of this for years! It’s my staple, my go-to, my easy no thinking smoothie when I just need nutrition and don’t want to put in the effort!

Give me tons of energy, makes me feel balanced, fulfilled and most of all, makes me feel like I got in all of my nutrients!

The best way to start your day is with a smoothie. It eases digestion and helps the body process

Here are some things to keep in mind when making a smoothie to keep the sugar low, and really make the smoothie work FOR you instead of against you.

  • Include low GI carbohydrates like frozen blueberries, strawberries or raspberries. If you use banana keep it to a half or smaller.

  • Ensure you have a good quality protein, usually a greek yogurt, non-dairy yogurt, nut milk (I love hemp milk with protein) plant protein powder – especially for vegans.

  • Avoid large quantities of additional sugars in the form of unnatural sugar-laden protein powders or large quantities of fruit.

  • Throw in some healthy fats to help keep you full and satisfied like nut butters, coconut oil or raw nuts!

  • Add in allllll the ice to keep it thick and creamy!

With that said, I give you the ingredients to this nutrient packed smoothie!

Ingredients:

  • 2 handfuls spinach

  • 1 tsp spirulina (great source of vitamins, minerals AND protein)

  • 3 ice cubes

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • 1 scoop Organic, Non-GMO Vanilla Plant Protein

  • 1/4 frozen blueberries

  • 1-2 frozen strawberries

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • Addtional adds as toppings or in mix - 1 tsp maca powder for energy, 1 tbsp hemp seeds for additional protein, 1 tsp cacao nibs for added crunch!

I hope you enjoy! I’d love to hear your comments below on this smoothie or any others you’d like to see!
